Applications are invited for admission to MDS Program in various disciplines in institutions for the academic year 2015
Aims and Objectives
To provide quality education in medical and technical fields and enhance educational standards to the global level
To inculcate research in all levels of learning so as to excel in various medical, technical and inter disciplinary fileds
To participate in various community programmes that would aid in the upbringing of society in and around the institute
To make theoretical education more practical and application oriented
Course Duration
The duration of the course is 3 academic years; the academic year for MDS commences in the month of April every year
Course Details
MDS is offered in the following specialties
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,
Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial
Pathology, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Oral Medicine and Radiology,
Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Public Health Dentistry
Integrated MDS with PhD Program is available in all the above mentioned specialities
Eligibility
A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of Dental Surgery)
must possess a degree of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) duly
recognized by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained
permanent registration from any of the State Dental Councils of India
Candidate not possessing a recognized
dental qualification for the above purpose should secure the prior
approval regarding qualification by the Dental Council of India before
he/she can be admitted to the MDS course
The candidate for admission to MDS course should have completed his/her C.R.I (Compulsory Rotatory Internship) on or before 31st April 2015
Admission Procedure
The admission for MDS degree course is based on merit depending on the performance of the candidate
Prospective students should have appeared for the All-india UNi-Gauge entrance examination to be eligible for admission into MDS at Saveetha University
The candidate should apply to Saveetha
University with UNi-Gauge® score based on the cumulative exam score,
candidates will be invited for counselling and offered admission

CAT Aptitude Test
The students should present an abstract
essay or prepare a video presentation that will be evaluated, by an
external committee for their aptitude and the suitability for their
program of choice
CDT Dexterity Test
The students will be asked to perform a
simple clinical procedure related to their field of application; their
performance will be evaluated by the Head of the Dept.; CES scoring
will be issued on the same day of counseling
Counseling
The call letter for counseling will be
sent individually to the eligible candidates; the selected candidates
should appear for counseling on the said date and time; the counseling will be held on 05th March 2015 in Saveetha Dental College, 162, Poonamallee High Road, Chennai-600077
Seat allotment will be done based on the rank list subject to fulfillment of the eligibility criteria
MDS (Ranks 1-50): 05th March 2015 (08.00 a.m.)
MDS (Ranks 51-100): 05th March 2015 (12.00 Noon)
The candidate should be present for the
counseling at appointed date and time without fail. It is mandatory
that the candidate brings the prescribed tuition fees (mentioned below)
to appear in the counseling
In case of candidates securing equal
marks in the entrance examination, the candidate with higher score in
the qualifying exam will be given preference; candidates who are not
present for counseling on the specified date and time do not have any
rights to claim any seat
The Candidate should be present for the
counseling accompanied by a parent / guardian; the following original
documents with three sets of attested photocopies should be submitted
at the time of ounseling if selected
i) Degree Certificate or Provisional Pass Certificate of the Qualifying Exam
ii) Mark Certificate from First year to Final year BDS
iii) Certificate of Completion of Internship
iv) State Dental Council Registration Certificate
v) Proof of Date of Birth
vi) Attempt Certificate from First to Final BDS
vii) Transfer Certificate from the Institution last studied
viii) Conduct Certificate from the Institution last studied
ix) Community Certificate
x) Migration Certificate
xi) Certificate of Vaccination against Hepatitis-B
xii) Eligibility Certificate from Saveetha University
xiii) Three Stamp size and Four Passport size photographs
xiv) Nationality Certificate & Copy of Passport and Visa (Foreign Students only)
xv) UNi-Gauge Score
Fee Structure
The Candidates once selected for
admission should pay the following fees through Demand Draft only at
the time of Admission and thereafter in the month of March every year;
the fees once paid will not be refunded
In case the candidate wants to
discontinue/ withdraw during the middle of the course, he/she has to
pay the entire course fee (for three years) before discontinuing from
the course
MDS (Oral &
Maxillofacial Facial Surgery, Prosthodontics, Conservative Dentistry
and Endodontics, Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Orthodontics) -
Annual Fee Rs 15,00,000/-
MDS (Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, Oral Medicine & Radiology, Public Health Dentistry, Periodontics) – Annual Fee Rs 6,00,000/-
Apart from the annual fees, the following has to be paid at the time of admission
Admission Fee Rs.5000/-
University Registration Fee Rs.3500/-
Eligibility Fee Rs.1500/-
Caution deposit Rs.5000/- (Refundable at the end of the Course)
The formal induction of students will take place at the Auditorium at Saveetha Dental College, 162, Poonamallee High Road, Chennai-600077 on 22nd April 2015 at 10.00 a.m.
Applications can also be downloaded from the website www.saveetha.com and the completed applications forms should be accompanied by demand draft for Rs.1000/- taken in faour of Saveetha University, payable at Chennai
Completed Application forms should reach the Director of Admissions, Saveetha University, Chennai on or before 31st March 2015
There is no need to send any original or
photocopies of certificates along with the application form for the
entrance examination
