Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences, popularly known as BIDS, is among the leading dental institutes in the state of Karnataka. The institution is a part of an entire group of colleges owned by the Vignan Education Foundation Trust. The institution is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
BIDS Bangalore was established in 1992, when the Vignan Educational Trust started a group of colleges and educational institutes, to fulfill the educational needs of Karnataka. Ever since its inception, the institute has consolidated on its reputation. It is regarded as one of the very best colleges in the region. Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences and Hospital offers BDS and MDS courses for Undergraduates and Graduates, respectively.

Eligibility Criteria
  • In order to get admitted to the undergraduate course, the candidate must be 12th passed with bio-science. It is essential for his to have subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology till class 12.
  • Although the marks criterion is subjected to variation every year, in most cases it is 50% for the general candidate and 45% for the SC and ST candidates.
  • All candidates must sit for examination like CET, KRLM, COMED-K or AIET before applying in this college
  • The post graduate candidates must have a B.D.S degree from a recognized college with at least 50% marks.

Admission Procedure
  • The admission forms have to be collected from the college campus in lieu of a certain amount of money.
  • These forms have to be filled up, enclosed with the right documents and submitted back to the college administrative office.
  • The students will be evaluated on the basis of the marks obtained in the last qualifying examination and that of the competitive entrance examinations.
  • The list of the final candidates will be declared in the college campus itself

Facilities and Infrastructure
  • The college provides separate hostels for girls and boys.
  • It also provides classrooms with modern facilities like projectors and comfortable furniture
  • The technically sound clinical facilities are clean, hygienic, tidy and well equipped with modern set-up

Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences, Bangalore was established in the year 1991 under the dynamic leadership of Mr. K Subba Rao, Chairman, VEF, the Institution has grown leaps and bounds. The first batch of students passed out of the college on 8th November 1995 which happens to be the red letter day when the premier Dental Council of India gave recognition to the Institution. The year 2002 saw the first batch of Post-graduates leaving the Institution in the following six Specialties :-
